I’m often asked what works best and gets the most reach when sharing content on LinkedIn.
Here’s what I’ve found.
There are gurus out there who analyse the algorithm for a living and their advice is great, but it’s very easy to get caught up in analysis paralysis and not do anything.
Also the wretched algorithm seems to change how it promotes content on a daily basis, so chasing this is futile.
Here’s what I’ve found works – and the best bit, it won’t cost you a thing!
✅ Share an article you’ve learned something from and feel would benefit your community – even external links included in the post (vs in comments) get traction if the article is valuable. I did this last week with a WiseTech article – it’s now had more than 7,000 views.
I didn’t share it for any other reason than that I found the article very interesting, it got me thinking and I learned something.
✅ Give some insight into something people struggle with and that maybe you struggle with too. Help them find a way to solve this problem. (You’re reading about it right now)
✅ Share your knowledge in a way that helps people
✅ You don’t have to post every day, or even every week. There’s way too much noise out there already. For 99% of people posting something when you’re inspired to share is just as valuable.
✅ Don’t waste too much time thinking about it and don’t feel you have to write war and peace. Shorter is often better.
✅ If you want to be more consistent but struggle to find the content, start a folder in your inbox and save the emails you find interesting. Then you’ll have a library to choose from when you’re ready.
✅ Reposting is great, but do it with your own thoughts
✅ A post with a picture works better than text only
The common theme for all the content you create or share should be around creating value and helping people out in your community. Focus on this.
Which of these resonate with you?
Nina
