Try being baffled instead…
Let me explain, but first up, why are we here?
Everywhere I look I’m seeing people in survival mode.
They’re struggling with costs, adversarial or apathetic stakeholders, government interference, red tape, hard work and no reward – all of which lead to feeling overwhelmed, stuck, exhausted and frustrated.
I’m going to run a series on survival mode and invite you to come with me on a journey to unpack what’s taking place across a range of industries and how to find a way through or even just something better.
So let’s talk about what happens when you get frustrated:
- You feel like you’ve lost control
- You don’t have the insights to answer the questions or shift the situation
- Every direction feels like a roadblock
- You get a bit angry
- You might lash out or bottle it up – both of which can make you extremely unhappy
If this is you or you’ve experienced this sense of frustration – try flipping the script.
Replace the word ‘frustration’ with ‘baffled’.
And watch what happens:
- You start to accept a situation
- You become able to shrug things off
- It’s a softer emotion and allows you space to walk away or think differently about the matter – a different approach might be all you need to solve the problem or to let it go
- Your energy changes – for the better
It won’t always work, but it can give you the space and time you might need right now.
